WESTERN WALL - NESTS

   Israel's first Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians after standing nearly 500 years. The Jewish people rebuilt the Temple about 70 years later, about 500 years before the time of Yeshua - Jesus. Herod the Great (who had the babies in Bethlehem killed in the Nativity story) did a HUGE reconstruction job,
said the be the 2nd greatest construction project in the Roman Empire.

   This wall known as the "Western Wall" is a RETAINING wall, holding up the WEST side of the Temple Mount. The Jewish Temple was built on top of the ground held up by this wall. The "Dome of the Rock" now sits on that ground held up by this wall.
   So, although this wall is not a wall from the actual Temple itself, it is as close as Jewish people can get to where the Temple used to stand. Thus, it is also call the WAILING WALL as Jewish people to this day mourn the loss of that Holy Place where they once were able to meet and make peace with God through the Sacrifices ordained in Jewish Scripture.
