Yes, there are modern "supermarkets" in Israel with many fine products. But, if I lived here, I would shop for many items at the Carmel (open air) Market in Tel Aviv. Over a dozen fruit and vegetable vendor compete for your business - each trying to out-do the other to gain your business. There are over a hundred vendors selling everything from food to gadgets, clothes to Hanukkah candelabras - nearly everything you need is here.
For this post, I collected pictures of various food items available in abundance in this "shuk" (market).
Below - Amazing assortment of olives
2nd down - Fresh Figs in abundance
3rd down - Abraham in "Jesus Loves You" Shirt (in Hebrew) telling vendor how much halavah to slice off (Halavah is a confection made from crushed sesame seeds)
