Isaiah, chapter 53 describes God's Anointed Servant.  It says He would be despised by men, but He would accomplish God's will.

Man, created by God - perfectly reflecting the glory of God - chose to rebel against his Maker.  This sin ("missing the mark" of God good for man) resulted in mankind's separation from God - The Author of Life.

Separated from The Source of Life - man was now doomed to death.

Isaiah 53 tells how God's Anointed Servant (The Messiah) would take that deadly punishment that should have fallen on rebellious mankind.

Our Congregational Leader - Abraham E. Sandler - has written a translation of Isaiah 53 that brings out
the full meaning of the Hebrew's description of this Personal, Redeemer Messiah and why we needed him.
